The Intuition of Beasts

Animals always know the truth within a human heart,

And when they sense one whom they like, it’s to that one they will dart.

The old one told you not so subtly by his choice of favorite chew,

Though you lied about it doubly, he gave you every clue.

A beeline to a stranger, the pup knew who was a friend,

And out of all the choices available the new one chose him again.

Both old and knew have told you true, but you cling to your sin,

Making excuses for your ruses, you simply don’t listen.

A heart that was true, though through your betrayal the sane was stolen,

All your pets have told you without a doubt whom you should have chosen.

Your judgment was an is abysmal, and they have tried to steer,

But you listen to them not, and sincere love did disappear.
