Standing Nowhere

I don’t know where in the world I stand exactly, though I stand nowhere with you.

And that is your loss and your folly, as it means you passed on something true.

But unlike you, I stand on my own, complying with no one’s rules,

I bow to no ones pressure, and I do not suffer controlling fools.

My worth is not dependent upon acceptance from intolerance,

And I do not take any orders from bigots lacking sense.

My heart belongs to whom I choose, not whom is chosen as king,

And my loyalty goes to the deserving, not faces long past knowing.

You will never find anything real in your hunt for diamond bands,

Your soul seeks what does not exist in gold-gilded trash cans.

I do not know where I stand, but I know that I have self-respect,

I know you gave yours up, and that is not a life but a defect.

Find yourself inside yourself, not in the eyes of vain control,

Find real love, not shallowness, dictated by a vacant role.

I do not know where I stand in this world that is falling apart,

But I know that I loved you genuinely. It was you who had no will, no heart.
