Mr. Legend in His Own Mind

“He’d run across dudes like this before. In fact, one who had been almost exactly the same in his style of game. That one told everyone he was a pro MMA fighter and sold it by having a job at a gym. He targeted a woman with emotional problems and oozed his way into a ‘relationship’ with her, telling her how special she was and how only he got her. And then, of course, he started asking for money. His victim only realized it after she’d given him so much that she’d almost lost her home. And she ignored everyone who tried to warn her, even as he started to isolate her, telling her to stay off social and not listen to anyone. Then he’d tried to blackmail her with pics she’d sent him when she broke it off.

This guy’s MO was exactly the same. He was no professional. There was no mention of him anywhere that wasn’t self-promo, not one major or even minor publication anywhere. And she was emotionally damaged, which he knew from proximity. It appeared he was already asking for money.

The difference between her and the other victim, however, was that she had already dealt with this sort of man and should have known better. But her ego was so desperate for stroking that she fell for it out of hand, never asking why it came about all of a sudden and only when he needed her to further his ‘career.’

These guys weren’t hard to spot. They always held themselves out as exceptionally intelligent and talented, using big words they didn’t really know, trying to sound astute and professional. And it was always a matter of just needing that “lucky break” ... that never came ... just one more dollar ... because they weren’t as badass as they thought themselves.

She’d just let herself be played. She held no stock in that world. He claimed to have all sorts of connections, so he shouldn’t have needed her at all. It was all bullshit, all cosplay, and she, desperate for attention, fell for it.

They were fake famous guys, legends in their own malignantly narcissistic minds ... and this guy took the cake for narcissism. He was also another fake Christian, which she should have been able to spot from a mile off, except that she was one too.”
