Instead of Love

If instead of choosing a man who was loyal,

Whose love was true,

A man with wide interests, unpredictable, and deep,

You choose the ugly, the player, one who has nothing but money to offer,

And trolls the world for anyone who will take him, playing the field,

One who is completely boring, no imagination, no real morality …

Instead of forgiving for a transgression you helped cause,

You court what will no doubt end up worse in the end,

Instead of what was guaranteed pure, you choose what is guaranteed phony,

Instead of love, you choose hate,

Instead of a tiger, you choose a pig,

Slavery instead of freedom.

Instead of paying a debt owed, you stay silent and give your attention to boors,

Then, instead of asking yourself what is wrong with the man you rejected,

When there was nothing wrong with him,

Ask yourself why you choose to be ugly.

Ask yourself why you will take worse.

Ask yourself what is wrong with you.
