Seeking the greedy, the phony, the using, the low,
Popularity in conformity to the shallow,
After material wealth and financial security,
Even if selling yourself is the cost … faking love,
Being a vulgar man’s slave,
Because the faith you were taught is false.
Refusing your own guilt,
Denial upon denial.
Wanting to bury one who loved you with no remorse for the loss,
Nor compassion for a mistake you instigated,
Ignoring your own leading,
And feelings you let be seen without meaning to,
Though loved, having chosen coldness,
And lying about it all forever,
Because your faith is false.
No intention of reconciliation,
No reaching out,
No true effort, even for the sake of your own soul,
No desire to make anything right,
You will never let yourself forgive,
Nor let yourself have sincere love,
Because your faith is false.
False faith cannot absolve you of your sins,
Absolve you of your debt to one you wronged with malice.
Yet you would rather be a sinner than be kind, true to your word,
Then follow the way you claim to believe.
It cannot free your conscience, and your innocence is only a lie of self-delusion.
It cannot make you right when you are wrong.
It cannot buy you true loyalty nor friendship,
And it cannot bring you true love, just those as false as it is.
Only admissions and surrender of your guilt can ever be enough
To make your God see you as worthy of grace again,
For you do not repent, do not alter your behavior.
‘Til you do you are damned, but not to an imaginary Hell, an inferno,
But damned by yourself to live a lie, because you do not believe,
Not in honesty,
Not in compassion,
Not in forgiveness,
Not in humbleness,
Not in fairness,
Not in piety,
… not in love.
You seek only self-advantage and give your flesh to demons.
You trade what your God sent you for the hope of diamonds.
Tell me, why should He ever acknowledge you again?
And why should your inner voice ever forgive you … or have you slain it?
You cannot claim faith you do not live.
