WHO AM I?
I am an indie author who knows how difficult it can be to find reliable editing help that won't break the bank, and I am committed to keeping the process as affordable as possible. Everybody's got to eat.
- Roughly 25 years of (non-titled) editing experience in various capacities, including my own works.
- Roughly 20 years teaching experience in numerous subjects in the Humanities, including Language Arts, at upper levels. I've edited high school essays, college theses, and Beta and ARC read numerous novels. I have a broad educational background.
- Proofreader for Jan Miklaszewicz of Hartmouth Horrors, the popular British indie horror author.
WHAT'S OFFERED
- Flat rate line editing/paragraph formatting, priced by the page, in lieu of by the word.
- Flat rate developmental editing, priced by the chapter. (Developmental editing includes line editing)
GUARANTEES
- NO MANUSCRIPT WILL EVER BE UPLOADED TO AN AI.
- All editing will be done by me. I will provide editing notes for suggested revisions and will never unilaterally alter the original text of any manuscript. (Margins may be adjusted during editing for uniform pricing purposes.)
- No punches pulled. I am not here to insult anyone, but I will not overlook what I believe may constitute issues.
- You keep your voice. Any and all suggestions and/or commentary made will be given in accordance with traditional grammar rules and/or rhetorical concerns.
(- No editor realistically can or should promise to catch every little flaw, and, hence, I do not make that guarantee.)
WHAT I WILL NOT EDIT
- I will not edit any manuscript written with or pre-edited by AI. Please do not submit them.
- I prefer to read horror, horror-adjacent, the darkly dystopian, and lit fic, but I may be persuaded to accept other genres, with the following exceptions: Romance, Erotica, Technical Writing, Non-Fiction based in heavily academic subjects.
- Manuscripts in languages other than English.
