Passion inexhaustible and a worship of the face she cursed,
Love that blinded him to superficial flaws and neuroses.
A will to fill her all day, all night—one that would never die,
To sate her appetite however she craved. She was his energy.
Deep interest in her interest, a loyalty unquestionable,
And an oath to always be straight with her, if she granted him her love.
With a ferocious urge to protect her, which barely knew bounds,
But an understanding of needed space, if that need arose.
To love her in any way available to him, was all he ever wanted.
And every day, the sight of her made everything alright.
And none of it worth anything, without an offer of gold.
Now, in lieu of a man set aflame in union, he only wore perpetual wounds.
